The Action command performs actions such as mouse clicks on web elements, including links, buttons, and menus. Located under Action in the command palette.

Action properties

Selected action element

  • When missing: Specifies what happens if the selected element is missing. The default is Warn.
    • Fail: Generates an error in the logs and fails the Agent.
    • Warn: Generates a warning in the logs and continues the Agent.
    • Ignore: Skips child commands and moves to the next command.
    • Passthrough: Ignores the missing element and continues executing child commands.
  • When hidden or disabled: Specifies what happens if the selected element is hidden or disabled. The default is Select.
    • Select: Makes the hidden or disabled element available for selection.
    • Ignore: Ignores the command when the element is hidden or disabled.

Action settings

  • Action script: Displays the script used to trigger the action. The default is element.click(). With the default action script enabled, you can observe the actions the Agent performs, but you cannot edit them. Disable the default script to customize the action with most standard HTML element interaction functions, with each command on a separate line.
  • Use default action script: Uses the default action script when selected. Clear this checkbox to specify custom events manually. This option is selected by default.
  • Break List: Specifies whether the action breaks an HTML area. Actions that load a new page automatically break HTML areas. The default is Default.
    • Default: Uses the default behavior for breaking HTML areas.
    • Yes: Enables Break List.
    • No: Disables Break List.

Wait for content

Wait for Content can wait for web content to appear on a page or for a specific URL to finish loading. When it waits for web content, select a web element in the browser; the parent Action command then waits until that element is available on the page. These settings are effective only when a browser wait selection is active in the current browser. The UI shows this requirement in a note at the top of the section.
  • Requirement: Specifies how the command handles waiting for content to appear or for a URL to finish loading. The default is Required.
    • Required: Waits for the content or URL. If the content does not appear within the configured Wait for Content Timeout, the command fails.
    • Optional: Waits for the content or URL, but the parent Action command does not fail if the content does not appear within the configured Wait for Content Timeout.
    • No Wait: Completes the parent Action command as soon as the content appears, without waiting for it to load fully.
  • Timeout: Sets the number of seconds between completion of the action and parsing of the page. The default is 60 seconds.
  • Wait for removal: Waits for the selected element to be removed from the page before continuing. This option is disabled by default.
  • Wait for visibility: Waits for the selected element to become visible before continuing. This option is enabled by default.
  • Wait for change: Waits for any change on the page before continuing. This option is enabled by default.
  • Search All Frames: Specifies whether to wait for all page frames to finish loading.
    • Default: Inherits the setting from the parent command.
    • Yes: Checks the URL of all frames and monitors all web requests that load content asynchronously.
    • No: Checks only the selected frames.
